The Portal

The traffic and traveller information portal Rhineland-Palatinate offers dynamic information on

• congestion, traffic messages and webcam-pictures for motorways and many urban roads, continuously updated every 1-5 minutes
• location and duration of road works
• current road surface temperature, wind and precipitation measurements, active weather warnings
• electronic schedules for train (including delays) and bus services
• cycling and recreation.

The coverage for most of these information layers includes also adjacent areas in neighbouring regions. The portal is run by the Landesbetrieb Mobilität on behalf of the ministry for transport of Rheinland-Pfalz. For congestion and level-of-service calculation a simulation model is employed which uses data from more than 2000 inductive loops on carriageways and ramps.
